15 Questions to Ask A Realtor
Choosing the right Realtor to represent your interests is the most important step to ensuring your real estate transaction will be successful. Here are 15 questions you should ask all prospective Realtors. If the Realtor you are interviewing falls short, can't substantiate or hedges in any way, you're interviewing the wrong Realtor! Make sure an agent can back up any and all statements. Take a 'show me' attitude, you have a great deal riding on their ability to sell your home!
- How long have you been selling Real Estate?
- Is this your ONLY source of income?
- How many homes do you sell in a year? (Less than 10 probably means it's a part time job)
- Where is your marketing money spent? Homes Magazines, Newspaper Ads, Internet? Have them prove it. Ask to see advertising for consecutive weeks.
- Does your marketing promote homes or you (the Realtor)?
- What is different about your group? How will it benefit me?
- How strong is your name in the market? Have you seen it?
- How will you make my home stand out from the rest?
- How will you provide me with feedback?
- What system(s) do you have to develop a list of Buyers?
- Do you have enough Buyer leads to require a Buyer's agent?
- Do you have full-time assistants? Are they licensed?
- How would you prepare our home for selling?
- Is there value in your fee structure? Is it worth it?
- Will you negotiate your fee below 5% or 4%? Be Careful if they can't negotiate your fee now, what skills will they use to negotiate for you when you have an offer?
